CONSTRUCTION WELDING LABOUR
About Our Company

Christopher's Welding Ltd. (CWL) was created in 1993 as an owner/operator company by Christopher Overwater to perform welding services to the oilfield on a subcontract basis. CWL rapidly progressed into being a general contractor for large and small jobs alike. The first large job that was awarded was at the Amerada Hess gas plant just south of Olds in 1994. There, we did approximately $400,000.00 of new pipe construction and structural steel to install the required systems for the transfer and storage of liquid sulphur within their plant facility.

CWL then moved on to procure long term contracts with companies in the area including Exxon Mobil, Talisman Energy, Devon Canada and Fairborne Energy. With these new contracts we became a very mobile company, expanding into most areas of the oil patch including:

  • Pipeline construction and repair
  • Facility construction
  • Field maintenance
  • Turnarounds/shutdowns
  • Vessel repairs and alterations
  • Safety

In 1998, CWL purchased the assets of K&B Oilfield Construction Ltd. of Olds, Alberta. This purchase introduced us to other companies such as Sogar Resources, Baytex Energy and Olympia Resources which we still do work for in the central region of Alberta.

In 2000, William Shaw joined the ownership team and with this brought to us many years of experience in the oil patch and vast business knowledge.

In 2004, CWL purchased Jim Tennant Trucking (Crossfield) Ltd. which included 1 picker truck (14 ton), 1 bed truck, 2 low boys and 1 highboy.  This has helped greatly in moving equipment to job sites as well as many other hauling opportunities.

CWL has done work all over Alberta and is experienced in working in environmentally sensitive areas.  Projects range from $1000.00 upwards to $2,500,000.00 and are mainly done on a per bid basis.

We are members of the Alberta Construction Safety Association and have an approved safety program in effect as well as having a peer auditor on staff.  We spend extensive time training our staff in safety and job awareness, from management through to labourers.

CWL has welding procedures for pipeline work, alterations and repair to ASME section viii vessels, facility piping and for stainless steel.

At CWL, we feel more than capable of fulfilling any of your construction needs and are looking forward to doing work for your company very soon!

The strength of any company should be measured by the integrity of its staff and management.  Please feel free to contact our references.
